How to use AI

Over the past few years, we have seen a HUGE introduction of AI into apps, services and websites that we all use daily. From generative fill, allowing you to take away and add to photos with ease, to AI Language models such as Chat GPT that we have all used to either spell check, inspire ourselves on a subject, research or write a few social posts from time to time

DON'T LIE, WE ALL HAVE AT ONE POINT!

AI offers excellent capabilities and time-saving benefits, but it’s potential in content creation is even more exciting. By understanding how to use it effectively, we can unlock this potential and enhance the impact of our messages.

There have been times when AI has been wrong; while most of the time, the responses are accurate, it is always advised to fact-check and research the subject yourself. We must also remember that AI language models do not have 'real-time training data', so they cannot fulfil prompts like "top 5 marketing stories this week." However, some AI chatbots will provide you with reputable sources and tell you to check them to answer your query.

Prompt: Top 5 marketing stories this week

Response: I can't provide real-time information like the latest news stories as my training data only goes up until January 2022. However, you can easily find the top marketing stories of the week by checking reputable sources like Marketing Dive, Adweek, Marketing Week, or Forbes' marketing section. They often feature roundups of the most significant events and developments in the marketing world.

In some cases (more often than not), AI writes in a plain, informative way that sounds robotic. Copywriting, as we all know, is an art that takes time, experience, and knowledge. After all, if it didn't, we would all be best-selling authors. That's not to say that you can't write compelling copy; we just need to put time and thought into reading it repeatedly until it flows, captures and tells your audience the story that needs telling.

We'd all like to open our computers in the morning, with a coffee in one hand, and type a bunch of commands into a Chat Bot Language model for one hour. Then, copy and paste the commands into our emails, social media posts, and other work. Then, close our laptops for the day and go about our everyday lives.

While this one day may be a reality, the technology is still not quite there yet. So, how can we get closer to this dream of AI taking over our workload but not putting us all out of work?

We mentioned fact-checking; you should not skip this step. After all, if your content is wrong or irrelevant, it will not add value to the viewer and will not be shared or talked about. To be engaging, the content we produce must offer value and truth, be on the subject, and be easy to read.

*PRO TIP: Writing relevant, engaging blogs also helps your SEO Strategy.

So, how do we use AI to our advantage?

Use AI for your business as inspiration, not as a complete writing assistant.

We all use AI to inspire us from time to time. The key to leveraging this to your advantage is never copying and pasting. Never doing this will allow you to write the information in a voice that appeals to your target audience.

As a rule, at Visabilo Digital, we ban ourselves from copying and pasting from any AI language model. So that we can take advantage of the above, but it also prevents us from falling foul of what we like to call "click and copy knowledge." Click and Copy Knowledge refers to someone looking to research something. Clicking on the first page, they come to with content that 'sounds accurate' and copy it straight into their work.

Living by these tips and tricks will allow you to maximise the effectiveness of AI and start using them to your advantage; when done correctly, these tips can save you hours of time!
